Overview | General | DOT Regulated | Drug Free Workplace
What is a Model Program? A Model Program is a way of getting “more bang for your buck”. You might think of it as the difference between buying a good suit (but might need alteration) vs having a suit hand-tailored; or vs picking something up at your neighbor’s garage sale; or not being “covered” at all. On balance, the Model Program approach is both an effective and a cost-effective way to get the “coverage” you need.
Physically…it’s a manual. In practice, it’s much more. You can hire the specimen collection, lab, MRO, and TPA services and everything can be done “right”, and still find (e.g., in an unemployment hearing, union arbitration, or other action taken on behalf of an employee) that your “policy” did not adequately address the relevant issue. The Model Program combined with the Drug Screens Plus staff, helps to “bring it all together”. It’s like having some of the best people in the business at your beck and call…but not on your payroll! Always available, but not always on the clock.
Drug Screens Plus offers Model Programs for DOT-regulated employers under FMCSA, FAA, FTA, PHMSA, and USCG regulations. We also offer a DFWP (Drug Free Work Place) Model Program for non-DOT regulated employers as well as employers who are subject to the Drug Free Workplace Act. Our DFWP Model Program can also form the basis for programs to qualify for certain state discounts on Worker’s Compensation premiums and challenges to unemployment benefits based on misconduct.
No matter how good of a policy you start out with…stuff happens, things change. Drug Screens Plus notifies clients when there are regulatory or other changes that may affect your policy. When there are changes that warrant “minor” revisions, we simply make the changes and send them out to every one of our clients (since the last major revision, that’s 6 changes x 1-8 pages each x 1400+ clients)…at no additional charge.
