Very few employers are large enough to have a well-developed capacity “in-house” to adequately deal with the full spectrum of substance abuse testing issues.  Therefore, employers typically rely upon a TPA (see TPA Services) such as Drug Screens Plus not only to facilitate Specimen Collection, Laboratory Testing, and Medical Review, and also to assist with Program Development, Model Programs, Education & Training, Random Pool Management, DOT Audit Support, Litigation Support, After-Hours technical support, etc.  However, not all TPAs provide all of those support services.

In addition, because of the complex technical issues related to substance abuse testing, an employer (or their TPA) should have a staff person with C-SAPA credentials and several years of experience to assist with procedural details and complications.  Many TPA services lack even one administrator with C-SAPA credentials.  Drug Screens Plus has two C-SAPA qualified administrators on staff, with 15-20 years experience (each, not just “combined”) in substance abuse testing.
